Something Different

GEICO - Caveman's Crib

When GEICO wanted to create a viral internet campaign based upon their popular Caveman commercials they contacted Stevenson Group's own Graham Dodge to be the Art Director and Prop Master on the project. Graham drew from his background in television on shows such as MTV's "Wild'n Out", as well as his resources at Stevenson Group, to recreate the look and feel of the trademark GEICO Caveman apartment as seen in the popular television commercials. Stevenson Group provided and/or arranged the furniture rentals and logistical services for the art deparment to help bring the concepts to life.

The same team was also involved in the subsequent GEICO CavemansCrib.com 'Masquerade Party', which included recreating the original set again with the additional flair and decor of a masquerade party. "My favorite part of the job was making the vegetable guillotine", says Graham Dodge; now Stevenson Group's Director of Corporate Communications. "The GEICO team had some really great ideas for me to work with, and that was one element that I think really came together well on the interactive side."

The most challenging part of the entire job, according to Graham, was finding some of the occult props used in the Masquerade shots. "They wanted a gecko voodoo doll. We had a hard enough time trying to find a voodoo shop in the Baltimore/Washington area, but eventually my assistant Alison Hjembo was able to find one. They didn't have any gecko voodoo dolls per se, so Alison, being a seamstress and puppetmaker, whipped one up from scratch."

All in all, the production was a success and the viral campaign was an instant hit online. Stevenson Group is proud of their involvment in this unique project, and looks forward to their ongoing projects with GEICO.
